Component Nodes

Component nodes are the base nodes that go inside each of the nodes listed above and are not really intended for use by themselves in your projects.

A Carbon component node.

They come in three different types:

  1. Data nodes: Turn an empty object Houdini node into a Carbon dynamic object node, or add global effects to the Carbon Simulation.
  2. Relationship nodes: Used for expressing constraints between objects within the Carbon Simulation.
  3. Solver node: The Carbon Simulation implementation.

  • Unlike other non-component nodes, these nodes can change between minor releases in a way that will affect the backward compatibility of your scene.
  • As they have neither the simplified UI, nor the scripts that allow them to function, using these nodes without guidance from Numerion can be challenging. Therefore it is generally not recommended to use them, unless you have no alternative.
